 الوصف:

The information explored in this text is both extremely
interesting and absolutely necessary for the clinician who
wishes to make the most of his or her profession, skills,
and potential contribution to disability management.
David challenges us to learn new concepts; enlarge our
capacity; and become consultants, educators, and agents
of change.
The text serves professionals who wish to understand
how they work best in the context of larger disability and
health management issues. The reader will be struck by
the diversity of information. The first reading will be of
interest, but this text also will become a resource for practice in the entire continuum of disability manag

This text has three benefactors. The first group is composed of professions such as physical therapy, occupational
therapy, medicine, vocational counseling, psychology, and
case management. We will find our professions enhanced
by myriad points of view. Temporary disability concepts
will expand current knowledge, and having all of this
information available in one text will allow each professional group to have its own greater reference points.
The second beneficiary is each individual professional.
Changes in worker’s compensation, long-term care, disability management reimbursement, and legal issues often
force a practitioner to change practice patterns. Now,
however, one will be able to understand the bases of those
actions and participate rather than follow. This text is full
of opportunities for new collaborations waiting to be
accepted and understood by the individual clinician.
Last, the collaboration of stakeholders in prevention
and management of disability will provide benefit to the
ultimate stakeholder, the patient in the disability system.
If knowledge gives power, each professional’s work will
become more satisfying, more effective, and able to reduce
disability and its effects for those who are served.
